ASTM F3101
ASTM F3101 is the US standard for outdoor fitness equipment intended for unsupervised public use, published by ASTM International as the “Standard Specification for Unsupervised Public Use Outdoor Fitness Equipment”. The current edition is F3101-21a (2021). It is the American counterpart to Europe’s EN 16630: both cover the same broad territory for equipment installed where nobody supervises the user.
Whether it is legally required depends on the jurisdiction and the procuring body, so confirm local requirements before buying. In practice it is the recognised US benchmark, and American public procurement commonly asks for it by name.
As with any standard, ask for certificates naming the specific stations you intend to buy rather than a general company statement. For what the standard covers in detail, see our guide to ASTM F3101, or compare the two regimes side by side in outdoor gym safety standards.
